Dora Mae Burklow

Dora Mae Burklow passed away peacefully on August 28, 2012 at Lakeridge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Lubbock, Tx, where she was a resident for the past year. Services will be held at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater, Texas on Thursday, August 30, 2012, at 2:00P.M. with Reverend Josh Reglin officiating. Visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. before the service at the funeral home.

She was born November 18, 1915 to John and Fannie Bardwell at their rural farm home near Nolan, Texas.

Mrs. Burklow attended school at Nolan, Texas, graduating from Nolan High School in 1933. She married her high school sweetheart, Ira B. Burklow, in 1938.

Mr. and Mrs. Burklow lived in Nolan and Hermleigh during the early years of their marriage, finally making their home in Sweetwater, Texas, where they co-owned and operated Sweetwater Poultry and Egg Company for 53 years.

They had two children, Wanda Sue and Billy Don, who were raised in Sweetwater.

Mrs. Burklow was preceeded in death by her parents, John and Fannie Bardwell, a brother, Garland Bardwell, and her husband, Ira B. Burklow, who passed away in 2000.

Mrs. Burklow is survived by her daughter, Wanda Sue Haley Snow (husband, Ron) of Sweetwater, and her son, Billy Don Burklow (wife, Lenora) of Lubbock, Texas. Mrs. Burklow had four grandchildren: Debra Haley Roche (husband, Bill) of Ft. Worth, Mike Haley of Sweetwater, Dana Russell (husband, Chris) of Prosper, Tx and Amy Varnell (husband, Matt) of Lubbock, Tx , and five great-grandchildren: Miki and William Roche, Breanna, Emily and Kellen Varnell, all of whom will lovingly cherish her memory as "Mam-Ma" Burklow.

Pallbearers will be Mike Haley, Bill Roche, Matt Varnell, Chris Russell, Ray Marquez and Bill Haley.
