Mrs. Alkek had lived in Victoria since 1922. She was born Jan. 6, 1904, in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Henry Brown and Helena Mims Brown Garrett.
Mrs. Alkek married the late John H. Alkek Sr. on April 22, 1922. He died on Jan. 30, 1960. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4146. She also had been a member of the First Baptist Church for 63 years and was a past president of the NABA for 60 years.
She is survived by a son, Franklin F. Alkek of Victoria; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John H. Alkek Jr. who died Nov. 28, 1975.
Grandsons James, Michael, Lance and Jerry Alkek will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund.
