Franklin Floyd Alkek, 73, of Victoria, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999.
He was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Victoria, to the late John Haney Sr. and Della Brown Alkek. He was founder and retired president of Ameroil Corporation. He was president of Alkek Oil Company from 1962 to 1972 and was a rancher in Yorktown for the last 18 years. He was former president of VHS and Stroman Booster Clubs, a member of Crystal Cathedral Eagles Club, I.C.A., Texas Oil Marketers and was active in Victoria Little League for many years. He was a Baptist and was a U. S. Marines veteran of World War II.
Survivors: wife, Jeri Dunham Alkek; sons, James Franklin Alkek of Houston, Michael Ward Alkek of San Antonio, and Steven Lance Alkek and Gerald Vale Alkek, both of Victoria; and eight grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: brother, John Alkek Jr.
Services will be 3 p.m. today at Rosewood Funeral Chapels, the Rev. Charles Placker officiating.
