He was born March 19, 1928 in Monroe County to Herman and Eunice Susie Proctor Leffler. He married Lucille J. Small on March 4, 1951.
A graduate of Blakesburg High School in 1946, he worked at John Morrell & Co. seventeen years, Trojan Doors in Albia and Chicago Rivet & Machine Co. in Albia retiring in 1992. He also farmed his whole life.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille; two sons, David (Kim) Leffler of Ottumwa, Denny (Denise) Leffler of Ottumwa; two daughters, Rhonda (Rick) Petrokovich of Bethalto, IL and Shelly (Steve) Feldmann of Pleasant Hill; eight grandchildren, Jason (Jentry) Leffler, Justin (Kashelle) Leffler, Jordan Leffler, Ashley Leffler (fiancée Jesse Stofer), Devin Leffler (Colton Bradley), Holly Leffler, Jacob Rusch and Noah Rusch (Megan Smith); four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Max Leffler and Herman Leffler, Jr. and a sister, Barbara Jean Leffler.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Bill Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Blakesburg Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the City of Blakesburg.
