Mr, Murphy, a veteran of World War I, was a charter member and past president of the Clay Rotary Club, and was a captain in the Clay Volunteer Fire Department. He was a life-long resident of Clay and had been a merchant here since 1918.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Vera Murphy; five daughters, Mrs. Emma Jane Holst of Portland, OR, Mrs. Grace Hardy of Salt Lake City, UT, Mrs. Nina Hall Triplett of Widen, and Misses Janet and Jackie Murphy, both at home; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Fast and Mrs. Mildred Smith, both at Charleston; three brothers, Cardell of Glenville, Paul and Pat of Clay; and his step-mother, Mrs. Lula Murphy of Charleston.
The body will arrive at the Clay mortuary Wednesday from Portland.
