Maria Catharine was the daughter of Johannes Appel Sr. and was born about 1738. She married John Henry Bernhardt 11 Nov 1755 and had six children: John Henry, Johannes, John Friedrich, Andrew, Catharine and Anna Magdalena. Her first husband died about 1771 and she married again on June 14, 1772 to Dewald Nase. Dewalt's second wife was also named Catharine so it's a little unclear when Catharine Appel died and which of Dewalt's children were by his first wife, but there is a three year gap between the birth of George Nase in 1780 and the birth of the triplets in 1783 so it's probable that Catharine Appel died c.1781 and that Dewald remarried in 1782. Then Dewald's first four children would be by Catharine Appel: Elizabeth, Maria Margaret, Christina and John George.
