Hazel Ann Clifton Gibbs passed away peacefully at home and joined her Lord and Savior on Wednesday July 18, 2012 at the age of 77. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, sister and friend. Hazel was loved not only by her family but by all those that knew her. Her unconditional love and caring was appreciated by all. She was a member of Universal City Baptist Church. She was a Past Matron of Schertz Chapter No. 911 Order of The Eastern Star and a member of the Daughter of The Nile Nekodah Temple No. 44 San Antonio. She was born May 15, 1935 to Percy A. Clifton and Louise L. Love in Benson, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James and Gerald Clifton; sisters, Meta Belle and Patsy Byrd and her son James Robert Gibbs. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jimmie R. Gibbs; brother, Charles D. Clifton; sisters, Maxine Byrd and Jacqueline Parker; grandchildren, Meagan, Cody, Conner, Elizabeth, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday July 23, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday July 24, 2012 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Universal City and will be followed by Order of the Eastern Star, Schertz Chapter No. 911 rites. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund First Baptist Church of Universal City.
