W. Bernice Bishop, age 81, of Edmond, passed away August 1, 2007. She was born May 8, 1926 in Hammon, Oklahoma to William Yancey and Katie (Johns) Collins. Bernice was a homemaker and also worked as a Rosie the Riveter in the ship yards in Washington State. In addition to that, she was a hair stylist and a home health provider. Bernice had a wonderful sense of humor and was a very loving and caring person. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Jamie Bishop Leal and Maylene Bishop Powers; one granddaughter, Brandi Ramos; her parents; two brothers, David and Melvin Collins; two sisters, Elta Jones and Nellie Pittman. She is survived by her husband, James L. Bishop; one sister, Opal Downs; two daughters, Darla J. Norton and husband Dr. Jack Norton and Sandra Petty. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held.
