Gene Azlin
A memorial service for longtime Pottawatomie County resident Gene Azlin is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Maud Community Center with Miles Knutson officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Gene passed away Friday, May 30, 2008 at his home in Maud. He was born Sept. 15, 1935 in Sulphur, Okla., to Orville Clarence "O.C." and Florence (Davis) Azlin.
He married Mary Ann (Silas) in March 1965 in Wewoka; she preceded him in death. Gene worked in the shipping department at Big Yank for many years.
He is survived by three daughters; Linda Azlin and special friend Ed Brown of Maud, Terri Colvin of Shawnee, and Vicki Kueneman of Maud; one son, Jimmy W. Hank of Ponca City; one brother, Orville Azlin; three sisters: Kathy Barnes, Ann Fesler and Pauline Azlin; two nieces: Rhonda Byerly and Beverly Azlin; and two nephews: Steve Byerly and Robert Azlin.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Billy Colvin, Jimmy B. Hanks and wife Melissa, Jacob Vloedman, Chris Colvin and wife Melissa, Tara Lewis and husband Stacy, Jessica Farani and husband Joe, Eddie Hanks, and Garon Nelson; and nine great-grandchildren, Landon, Chandler and Kyla Colvin, Hannah, Isabelle and Michael Hanks and Heaven and Aden Bond and Bryler Lewis.
His wife, Mary Ann (on Jan. 31, 2007); his parents, O.C. and Florence Azlin; grandparents; and one sister, Ruby Janette, preceded him in death.
