Arthur N. Anderson, son of Nels and Sadie (Tollefson) Anderson was born in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, October 27, 1895. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Lucas Lutheran Church of rural Cottonwood, Minnesota. He grew up on the home farm in Normania and lived there until 1918 whe he answered the call of his country and joined the Army of World War I. He served and took part in several of the principle battles, including the 47 day battle of the Argonne Forest.

After returning from the war he was united in marriage to Miss Selma Ellingson on December 10, 1919. For eight years they resided on a farm two miles south of Hanley Falls, Minnesota. Then they moved to their present home in Hanley Falls. To this union five children were born. One son, Darold, lost his life in World War II.

On September 9, 1957, he suffered a stroke from which he did not recover. On September 14, 1957, he was taken to the Clarkfield Community Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, where he passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 1957.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Selma Anderson; two daughters: Adeline (Mrs. Bennett Torke) of Wood Lake, Minnesota, Audrey (Mrs. Morris Listul) of Hazel Run, Minnesota; two sons: Wallace and Douglas of Hanley Falls, Minnesota. Also survivng are seven grandchildren: Beth and Allen Torke, Glenn, Bruce, Marlys, Sandra and Keith Listul; two sisters: Mrs. Aletta Nyland of Gully, Minnesota, Mrs. Alfred Christianson of Clarkfield, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.
