Mildred Ruth Marlar, age 95, of Mesquite, Texas, formerly of Prescott, Arkansas and Texarkana, Arkansas, died August 24, 2012, at her residence

Mrs. Marlar was born July 11, 1917, in Roseboro, Arkansas. She was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas.

Mildred loved the Lord God, her family, and her church, and was know to have the most beautiful flowers on her block. Besides gardening, she loved to crochet, tat, sew, oil paint, work with ceramics, and dance. Never afraid of hard work, Mildred worked at many varied occupations during her career, including the dairy industry, telephone operator, hotel desk clerk, school cafeteria worker, before finally retiring from Varo Semiconductor in Garland, Texas. Most of all, Mildred's best occupation was just being a wonder mother, and never met a baby she didn't love.

She is preceded in death by her husband Guildford Marlar; brothers Willard May and Haldane May; sisters, Nina Pickard and Velora Campbell; and great-granddaughter Lilly Jean Smith.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law Daisy and Mack Smith of LaRue, Texas; Eula and Gary Collins of Mesquite, Texas; Barbara and Robin Kuykendall of Mesquite, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law Denton and Mary May of Texarkana, Arkansas; a sister Nadine May Easterling of Texarkana, Arkansas; 4 grandchildren;7 great grandchildren; one great great grandson and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas with Denton May officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery, Bodcaw, Arkansas. Arrangements are with Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas.
