Nothing is known of John B. McCloskey's parents. They probably came from Ireland. John McCloskey is noted on his children's birth certificates to be a barkeeper and night-watchman. He died one week before his wife Annie Hunold, leaving many young children. We know from the murder record of his son John F. McCloskey in 1908, that Lizzie and Bernadine were living together near Tchoupitoulas St. The 1920 census shows Lizzie married to George Dietrich with Bernadine staying with them. Lizzie(Elizabeth) Dietrich died of T.B. in 1924. Annie and Marguerite were living with Mrs. Concannon on Front St. Son Richard lived at 1415 Annunciation and Andrew was a jockey employed by J.W. Fuller. We know that Richard was married before 1914 when his children were being born. Annie Berndetta is shown with Holy Sisters in 1910 census. She died in the flu pandemic of 1918 after having a girl Elmer Anna in 1917 with Elmer Xavier Turley. Marguerite married Maurice Gosling and had her first daughter in 1916. She and her husband were witnesses at the marriage of Bernadine to Harold Jones, a jockey, March 20th, 1925. Brother Andrew, also a jockey, was upset at Bernadine's marrying a jockey as he felt they traveled too much and were never home. Andrew did not speak to Bernadine for many years. I presume that Andrew never married.
