Freeman R. Dakin, born on Aug 25, 1824 and died on Feb 28, 1908 in Ashland, Clark County, Kansas, he is the son of John Dakin and Abigail Hersey. He married first Caroline Estabrook on Dec 02, 1852, he married second Mary Belinda Woodcock on Aug 16, 1864, she is buried in same cemetery with Freeman and a daughter Maud Merrill Dakin

Enlisted at Jackson Brook Plantation, Maine, Company D, 11th Maine Infantry, Sept. 28, 1861; age 35 rank Corporal. Taken prisoner at Fair Oaks, Va., May 31, 1862; returned to regiment at Yorktown and discharged. After leaving the 11th Maine he again entered the service in Company F, 9th Maine Infantry, was wounded in the left arm at Bermuda Hundred, Va., and in right elbow at Cold Harbor, Va.
