Taken prisoner at Fair Oaks, Va., May 31, 1862; returned to regiment at Yorktown and discharged. After leaving the 11th Maine he again entered the service in Company F, 9th Maine Infantry, was wounded in the left arm at Bermuda Hundred, Va., and in right elbow at Cold Harbor, Va.
