WOODWORTH, Olga F. Peacefully at Parkwood Mennonite Home on Wednesday, August 22, 2012. The former Olga Florence Derfert aged 90 years. Olga was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Loving mother to Dianne Miller of Kitchener, Kathryn Pozniak and her husband John of Valleyview, Alberta, Stephen and his wife Sharon of Kitchener, and Gwen Woodworth of Kitchener. Also survived by grand- children Angela Pfeiffer, Nathaniel Woodworth, Adam Woodworth, Laura Woodworth, John-Michael Pozniak, Timothy Pozniak, David Pozniak, Andrea Woodworth and Barbara Hoffman. Predeceased by her parents Adolf Derfert and Catherine Berbelicka, her husband Hector, and her brothers Rudy Derfert and Stan Derfert. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home , 621 King St. W., Kitchener on Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. where parish prayers will be recited at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Monday at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be in Waterloo Mount Hope Cemetery and donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church or Parkwood Mennonite Home.

Olga Derfert was born on a farm near Elmira, Ontario, to parents of Polish-Ukrainian and German-Russian descent. The family later moved to Kitchener. It was here that Olga grew up and received a Grade 10 education at St. Mary's High School.

Like many others, Olga worked at Electrohome during the Second World War. She then met her future husband, and after their marriage, she was focused on raising her four children.
Olga rejoined the workforce after the end of her marriage. She worked as a dishwasher at Goudies department store cafeteria and also as a cleaner at a laundromat.

Olga was an avid newspaper reader, and was very interested in current affairs.
