He was the son of William Bartley and Eliza Sophia (Bostick) Derrick and married Helen Louise Barnes - 29 Jan 1929 - Lincoln Co., Tennessee. His obituary follows:

Last Rites Held Monday For Louis Bostick Derrick, Who Died Of Heart Attack --

Funeral services for Louis Bostick Derrick, 54, who died at the Lincoln County Hospital Saturday following a heart attack, were conducted at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Raby Funeral Chapel.

The Rev. D. D. Smothers, pastor of the Fayetteville Baptist Church, officiated, and burial was in Riverview Cemetery.

Mr. Derrick had been in the Lincoln County Hospital since January 1 as a result of injuries received in a gun duel in which Mitchell Barnes of Fayetteville was killed.

He was a farmer of the Howell community and a life-long resident of Lincoln County. He was a veteran of World War I.

Surviving are one daughter, Miss Peggy Ann Derrick of Olinta College, Illinois; one son, Louis B. Derrick, Jr., of Camp Campbell, Kentucky; and one sister, Mrs. Cliff McGehee of Howell.
