While he was named Edward Ray at birth, he always went by Ray Leidy. Ray served in the U.S. Army from June 25, 1918 until April 24, 1919 and with the A. E. F. from September 2, 1918 until April 1, 1919 and participated in the Ypres Lys Offensive, October 31 to November 11, 1918. Ray never was married, never owned a car nor a house and made his home with his sister, Nola Leidy Wallace, and her husband, William Wallace for over 50 years. Ray was employed by the Lattimer and Stevens Co., in Columbus, OH for about 20 years.
