HOLTON - Mrs. Martha Ellen Strole, 87, Holton, died Tuesday in a Valley Falls rest home where she had been about 14 months.She was born October 29, 1885 in Floyd County, VA. She spent the past 47 years in the Denison and Birmingham communities southeast of Holton. She was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church at Holton.
She was married to Jacob M. Strole March 4, 1906. He died February 18, 1963. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Marie Marshall.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs. Ila Speer, Topeka, Mrs. Wilma Ecklund, Georgetown, Colo., and Mrs. Gladys Bolen, Holton; 3 sons, Lester Strole, Holton, Vernon Strole, Valley Falls, and Ray Strole, Topeka; a sister, Mrs. Clara Stutzman, Peace Valley, Mo.; a half-sister, Mrs. Zana Hill, Chico, Calif.; a half-brother, Clint Maxey, Los Angeles, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at Mercer Funeral Home at Holton with burial in Denison Cemetery.
