Mary married her first husband, Nathaniel Dan Schincke in 1878 when she was just 15. By 1903 she had given birth to at least 10 children 3 of which never made it out of childhood. Sometime after the last one was born she and Nathaniel divorced and she married George Baker. They had at least one child, George William, who was born when Mary was 49 years old. He did not live to see his first birthday.
