Virginia Beth Atchley was born July 18, 1924 in Mazie, Oklahoma to Henry Earl Burns and Lulu Augusta (Hite) Burns. She was a lifelong Mazie resident and was well known and respected in her community.

As well as attending to the work required to run a dairy farm, Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and caretaker for her family. She made clothes for her family and liked to quilt. The family recalls how there was always something freshly baked when they returned home from school, not to mention the hot meals she prepared every day for her large family. They share warm memories of Virginia’s fondness for family picnics on Mother’s Day.

She faithfully attended Chouteau Methodist Church until recent health problems kept her home.
