Barbara Jean was born April 4, 1927, in West Plains, Mo., to Charles Anderson and Mae Judd Parsons. She married Arvid Dryden in 1979 in Corvallis.
She raised seven children as a single parent, supporting the family by working as a waitress. She lived in Corvallis for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, collecting rocks and shells, reading, embroidery, cooking and trips to the Oregon Coast.
Survivors include four daughters, Gloria O'Neil of Eugene, Pam Nass and Danette Rozell, both of Salem, and Candace Paul of Denver; three sons, Chris Paul of Springfield, Herb Riley of Salem and Dan Paul of Denver; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
