Lyons Herald, 11 Jul 1912
The people of this community were shocked, on the morning of the 4th, when the news, over the phone, reached us announcing the severe illness of Jas. D. Hayden, and later in the day, when it was announced he was dead.
Deceased was a member of Plains Arbor and one of its most respected members, and will be greatly missed by all. He was a good neighbor and an honest man, upright in his dealings, a kind husband and an affectionate father, whose death we deeply deplore.
Deceased was 61 years old last March. He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, three daughters, an aged mother, three sisters and one brother, besides a host of friends. Services were held at the Presbyterian church in Muir Sunday July 7th.
