I have the following regarding Leory H. Clamp and his First World War service. - Kenneth H. Robison II.

Clamp, Leroy H.: Of Bridgeport, Fairfield County, Connecticut.

Biographical – Born on October 9th, 1893, in Ninety-Six, Greenwood County, South Carolina, the son of John Henry (1868-1937) & Mary Elizabeth Connelly Clamp (1870-1899); registered for the draft on December 14th, 1917, at Bridgeport, Connecticut, at which time he was described as 24 years of age, was married, of medium height, medium build, with brown eyes, dark hair and was employed with the Remington Arms Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut, he claimed exemption due to dependency of his “wife and child;” died on May 17th, 1968; buried at the Sherman Cemetery in Sherman, Pontotoc County, Mississippi.
Service Record – Enlisted in the Regular Army on December 26th, 1914, at the Columbus Barracks in Columbus, Ohio; served as a Private in the 131st Company, Coast Artillery Corps, to April 1917; the unit is reorganized as the 4th Company (Fort H.G. Wright), Coast Artillery Corps, in April 1917; the unit is reorganized as the 2nd Company, Coast Defense of Long Island Sound, New York, in August 1917, and serves with the unit to September 21st, 1917; promoted to Mechanic, no date; honorably discharged due to dependent relatives on September 21st, 1917, at Fort H.G. Wright, New York.
