Felte was born in Scotland. He immigrated on the ship "Edinburg", arriving in Philadelphia on 15 September 1749 under the spelling of Volentine Gile. The name was 'americanized' right away. He was the son of Jacob Gile & Maria Ehelich. He and his wife, Margaret, married in 1725 and produced 6 known children, three sons that served in the 1754 Indiana Wars and later, 2 in the Rev.War. There are pages and pages of information on Felte on rootsweb.com under the name Felte Volintine Coil Gile including his will. For more information please contact [email protected]

Casey Coil was the decendent that took the DNA test that gave us the region he was born in. SCOTLAND

1-Gabriel Kile Coil 1728 (Rev War)
m. Rebecca Skidmore
2-George Kile Coil 1730 (Rev War)
m. Hannah Mary Hevener
3-Martin Kile 1732 (sometimes Coil)
m. Martha
4-Jacob Coil 1734 (Indian Wars & Rev War)
m. Margaret Colup
5-Barbary Coil 1735
6-Elizabeth Coil 1736

Funny how people copy one another and never research. The ship list of the Edinburg has VOLENTINE Gile, wife, 4 sons and 2 daughters, For whatever reason, Volentine did not get his naturalization papers until 1764. He never signed the oath to the crown. But there again, he signed other papers with VOLENTINE COIL. So within the first generation the name was already being changed. Now our family uses Coile-Coil-Kile-Kyle & Coyle that I have found so far.

9/19/2019 I have received a message from Kurt Coil. Sharp person. Ask just the right questions. Maybe I have found the right person to take this over when I pass.

October 2019 The family still has not had a reliable family tree done on it. Dates are all over the place. I would love to see my family tree completed before I die.
