NEWTON - Ona Snow Carpenter, 80, of 1865 Campbell Road, Newton, died Dec. 27, 2004, at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley.
Born March 18, 1924, in Rock, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Callie Hatcher Burchette.
She was a home health-care worker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hugh Carpenter.
Survivors include a daughter, Adelle Thomas of Newton; two sisters, Maxine Ramsey of Bossier City, La., and Kathleen Testino of High Point; four granddaughters, Sherry Shook, Melissa Kale and Rhonda Beard, all of Maiden, and Susan Morton of Vale; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
The funeral will be held today, Tuesday, at 7:30 p.m. at Goodin-Drum Funeral Home. The Rev. Charlie Keener will officiate.
Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Westside Baptist Cemetery in Maiden.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
