Fannie Broadaway nee Bailey was born Feb. 10, 1862 at Ashland (Clay Co.), Alabama. The youngest daughter of George and Martha Bailey. When a young girl, she joined the Baptist church at Mellow Valley, AL, being a faithful member until her death. On Feb. 25, 1890 she as united in marriage with James Monroe Broadaway of Anniston (Taladega Co.), Alabama. To this union, 5 children were born: Mattie Matilda born in Ashland, Clay Co., AL July 8, 1894. Houston Lee born in Calhoun Co....Little lower by the name (Dark Corney) Feb 7, 1896. George William and Georgia Lillian born 4/9/1898 in McFalls, Taladega Co., AL. James Monroe, Jr. born 9/16/1900 in Calhoun Co. AL In 1901, Dec. 16th, they came to Texas and settled near Temple, TX lived on Uncle Johnny Nickols place until 1902. They moved to Boltoms in 1903 and lived there 1903-1904. In 1905, moved to Killeen, Texas living on Jack Hoover's place in the Willow Springs community. They lived there one year. In 1906 they moved 1 mile east of Killeen on Spencer Youngs' place for 3 years through 1908. In 1909 they moved out in the Willow Springs community for 5 years. In 1914 we moved out about 2 miles wesdt of Killeen for 1 year. In 1915 and 1916 we lived in the Reece's Creek community on Sam Rancier's place. Then Papa bought a place in the Trimier community on Nov 13th, 1916. Fannie lived there until May 1945. She came to live with her daughter, Georgia Lilliam York on Nov. 9th, 1945. Fannie had 1 brother - William Jefferson "Jeffie" Bailey and 1 sister, Mollie Bailey who died 10/1/1920 of typhoid fever. James Monroe Broadaway Senior died 11/26/1944 at age 84 yrs and 4 months. fannie was of English & French descent, had a wonderful personality, a sense of humor, a faithful wife, and loving mother. Out loss is heaven's gain. Written by a loving daughter, Georgia Lillian York.
