Ida Schaaf
Maria Stein native Ida Schaaf, 96, of Dayton, died Oct. 5, 2002, at Friendship Village, Dayton.
She was born Dec. 20, 1905, in Maria Stein, to Henry and Mary (Roettgerman) Albers. Her husband, Cletus Schaaf, died in 1980.
Surviving are a brother and his wife, John and Regina Albers, Chickasaw, and a brother, Herbert Albers, Celina; a sister and her husband, Joanne and James Peay, Worthington, and a sister, Marcella Burris, Springdale.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, the church choir and the Catholic Ladies Guild, all of Dayton.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Del Staigers officiating.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. today at Baker/Hazel Funeral Home, Dayton. A prayer service is planned there at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

I met Ida once when I was young. She was in her late eighties or early nineties and she was very spunky. Earlier that day she had cut her own grass. She was also rearranging her kitchen after getting her cabinets refaced.
