S/o Nelson & Clara Smith

Michael Raymond Smith, age 57, of Sparta, died Monday, September 14, from an apparent heart attack. He was born May 27, 1941 in Kansas and was the son of Nelson and Clara Smith. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 20 years in 1982. He was employed at Plaza Gas in Ozark. Mr. Smith was also a stamp dealer. He and Sherry were married on October 17, 1997. His parents and a brother, Bob Smith, preceded him in death. Survivors include: His wife, Sherry; a son, Mark Smith, Springfield; a daughter, Tonya Mensing and her husband, Roger, O'Fallan, Illinois; a brother, Jim Smith, Hinkley, California; a sis­ter, Georgia Binderim, Perry, Oklahoma; two stepchildren, Tammy Pihl and her husband, Carl, Kansas City, and Tim Burns and his wife, Kelly, Independence; a step-grandson, Zachary Pihl; nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Thursday, September 7, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial was in Sparta Cemetery.
