Leland Anderson
Leland L. Anderson, 74, East Moline, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 1996, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hampton, where he was a member. Burial is in St. John's Cemetery, Rapids City.
Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron, with a prayer service at 7:30.
Mr. Anderson was born Oct. 3, 1921, in DuQuoin, Ill., the son of Homer C. and Addie Vincent Anderson. He married Velma Larson May 8, 1948, in Rapids City.
He retired from Deere and Company Foundry in 1981 after 35 years of service.
He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in Germany, Belgium and France as a Medic.
He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 81, East Moline American Legion Post 227, the Ybarra-Gomez VFW Post 8890, Catholic Order of Foresters, where he was currently the Vice-Chief Ranger of St. John's Court 2050. He was Delegate of the Western Association of Foresters. He was past chief Ranger of Court 2050 and was past treasurer of the Associates of Courts of Western Illinois Catholic Order of Foresters.
Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Rita Gilbert, Lakewood, Colo.; grandchildren, Angela and Brant Gilbert, Chad, Collin and Clint Anderson; sisters, Glenna Kelly, and Mary Beard, both of DuQuoin, Ill.; and brothers, Wayne Anderson, Geneseo, Clifford Anderson, Metropolis, Ill., and Tom Anderson, Riverside, Calif. Sons, Rodney Clark and Brian, and a daughter, Patricia, are deceased.
