Mrs. Adams was born in 1923, in Rock Enon, Virginia, the daughter of the late Oscar N. and Anna Lee Fox. She was the Proprietor of Echo Village Motel and a member of First Assembly of God in Winchester. She was previously active with the SPCA. Mrs. Adams taught swimming to adults and children with disabilities at the War Memorial Building in Jim Barnett Park. Her love and compassion for her cats was unconditional, as they were the greatest joy of her life.
Her husband, Thomas Garland Adams, whom she married on January 24, 1943, preceded her in death on April 14, 2004.
Surviving is her daughter, Faye Adams and her husband Kenneth Jessup of Virginia Beach, Virginia; four sisters; Evelyn Cain of Lexington, South Carolina, Agnes Ware of Richmond, Virginia, Jean Mayhew of Winchester, Virginia, Erma Cook, of Richmond, Virginia; and brother, Alonzo N. Fox of Clermont, Florida.
Her sister and best friend, Alice M. Fox, preceded her in death on March 2, 2005, and her brother, Winfred Fox also preceded her in death.
A graveside service was conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, with Reverend Hartley Wigfield officiating.
Pallbearers were George Nethers, James Petrie, Richard McDaniel, Dennis Brookshire, John Hayden, and Fred Swindells.
