BENJAMIN E. BUNT, 89, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012. Born in Hunter, N.Y., he was one of nine children. He served in the Army in India during WWII. He was a self-taught entrepre neur whose construction co. built 1,000 + homes. He owned real estate agencies and a lumber company, including; Bunt Construction and Woodville Builders, East Side Lumber Co., Bunt Realty, The Realty House and Rousseau Realty House. He developed the residential communities of Crown Colony, the Hollows, Run Away Bay at Lake Wawasee and Diamond Lake Condos at Diamond Lake, Mich. He also built and owned Casselwood Apartments. He served as president of the Home Builders Assoc. of Fort Wayne, receiving their Lifetime Service Award in 1991 and was a life director for the Indiana HBA. "He was a loving father, and husband." He enjoyed nature, hunting, fishing, boating and skiing and piloting his own airplane. He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Bunt; stepchildren, Edward (Angie) Sandman, Kathleen (Lynn) Saalfrank, Michael Todd Sandman, Jennifer (Todd) Pugh, four step grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; he is also survived by his prior wife, Lucile C. Bunt; daughters, Jane (Rick Stoerker) McGraw, Vicki (Jim) Lauer, Kathren Bunt, Nancy (Jon) Alter; son, Benjamin A. Bunt; grandchildren, Christopher Hanson, Alexandra (Sean) Yorko, Joshua Alter, Cassandra Alter, Krista Alter and Robert Alter; one great-grandson; sister, Edna Husted and brother, Art (Gail) Bunt. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Bunt. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road Fort Wayne, Ind. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Msgr. John Suelzer officiating. Visitation is also 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2012 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road Fort Wayne, Ind. Vigil service will be held at 3:30 pm.
