Augustus L. Gladding, Jr. Entered eternal life on Oct. 28 at 84 years. He was a native of Lincoln, CA. Mr. Gladding was a veteran of WWII. He served as a lieutenant in the US Army Air Corp with the 8th Air Force, 95th Bomb Group. He flew 35 missions over the European Theatre as a B-17 pilot having earned the Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal for Meritorious Achievement with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Warsaw Uprising Cross for dropping food to the patriots of Warsaw, Portland in 1944. He loved golf and tennis.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty Thompson Gladding, daughter Liz (Rick) Gladding Maynard of Hawthorn Woods, IL, sons Augustus (Lynda) L. Gladding III of Goodyear, AZ and David H. Gladding of San Carlos, CA, brother Albert (Billie Joe) J. Gladding of Odessa, TX, and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Private Memorial Service will be held on Nov. 5 and a Private Interment in Lincoln, CA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or Hospice Caring Project of Santa Cruz County, 940 Disc Dr., Scotts Valley, CA 95066 in memory of Augustus Gladding, Jr. Arrangements by DARLING FISCHER Chapel of the Hills..
