Services were held in the chapel of the Smith Funeral Home Friday for frank J. Harper, 57, who died at his home in Mason Wednesday of last week. He was a native of Harper and had been an electrical engineer until his health failed. The cause of his death was attributed to cancer.
Rev. A. C. Knight, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiated at the rites and interment was in the Garden of Memories.
He is survived by his wife, whose home is in Mason; a son, Maurice L. Harper, Temple; a stepson, Jerry Turner, Mason, one grandchild, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Harper of Kerrville. Three sisters, Mrs. Clarence Leinweber, Mountain Home, Mrs. J. H. Buttrill, Port Arthur and Mrs. C. C. Burris, San Antonio, also survive.
Pallbearers were Pat Rogers, August Martin, Perry Simon, Ernest Underwood, Ed Simon and Orin Tinsley.
He was the grandson of the late G. F. Harper, for whom the town of Harper was named. He lived at various times in Bandera, El Paso, Morris Ranch and Sherman. After the death of his first wife, the former Veda Moore of Harper, he returned to Kerrville. He was married to Mrs. Ida Turner, and they moved to Mason to make their home.
