FLIPPO, Murry Joe – 82, died Friday, February 8, 2002 at his home in Tulsa. Born in a farm house near Maysville, OK, June 5, 1919 to Ben and Ina Flippo. A 1937 graduate of Purcell High School, Murray earned a degree from the University of Oklahoma in Commercial Education in 1943, with a minor in Geology. Married the former Annice Marie Waldby of Stillwater, August 9, 1924 and were hoping to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary together this summer. Enlisted in the Army, June, 1943, transferred September, 1944 to overseas duty with the 776th Field Artillery Battalion in Normandy, France. Following the advance of the First and Third Armies across France and Belgium into Germany, Lt. Flippo won the Bronze Start for meritorious service. Retired Accounting Supervisor from AMOCO in 1979 after 33 years of continuous service. A charter member of Indian Springs Baptist Church in Broken Arrow. Murry enjoyed singing hymns and helping the church to grow. In retirement, Murray enjoyed spending time with his wife, Annice, his 17 grandchildren, playing golf and following OU Sooner football. Preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Roy, Pershing and Maloe; sisters, Aldena and Justine; grandson Roger Murry Flipp, Jr. Service scheduled for Wednesday, February 13, 2002, 11 a.m. at Floral Haven in Broken Arrow. Donations may be made in his memory to the Roger Murry Flippo, Jr. Memorial Scout Fund in care of Arkansas Valley State Bank, 302 S. Main, Broken Arrow, OK 74012, the WWII Memorial, and Saint Francis Hospice. Floral Haven.
