WATAUGA – Rex Vaughn Caldwell Jr., 75, died Sunday evening, December 25, 2005.

A native of Sullivan County, he was the son of the late Rex Vaughn Sr. and Mary Massengill Caldwell. Mr. Caldwell was a retired carpenter and a member of Bunker Hill Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, Randy Caldwell.

Survivors include his wife, Mollie Evelyn Carr Caldwell; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Ann Caldwell of Watauga; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Terry Denton of Piney Flats; A sister, Nancy Campbell of Bristol, Va.; two grandchildren, Keri Caldwell and Brent Cross; one half-brother, Larry Caldwell; and one half-sister, Sandra Tolley.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Ernie Depew officiating. Graveside and interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2005 in Malone Cemetery in Watauga.

Active Pallbearers will be: Mark Campbell, Danny Bowman, Ronnie Carr, Kim Perry, Kip Perry, John Utsman, Butch Smith and Bud Carr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Herb Massengill, A.L. Shipley, J.W. Carr, Arco Perry, Paul Massengill and friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 6—8 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service hour. Pallbearers, family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday. Online condolences to the Caldwell family may be e-mailed to [email protected]. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
