The son of Oliver & Elizabeth (Oaster) Sennett, in 1860, he was a laborer living with and/or working for Samuel Keeney in South Middleton Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Other family members spell their last name with one "t."

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in West Chester, Chester County, June 10, 1861, mustered into federal service July 26 at Baltimore, Maryland, as a private with Co. A, 1st Pennsylvania Reserves (30th Pennsylvania Infantry), and honorably discharged at term's end June 13, 1864, at Philadelphia. He was one of three brothers (others were Henry and John) to serve during the Civil War.

After the war, he married Amanda A. Corman and fathered Harry Charles (b. 07/??/71) and William P. (@1877). He died in Penn Township, Cumberland County, from "carcinoma of stomach."

His exact age is difficult to determine. He told the army in 1861 that he was 21, but several Internet posts have him born ca. 1847. I have not changed what was shown here originally, which is from his death certificate.
