Came to Oklahoma Territory prior to 1900 in a wagon from Arkansas. The family shows as being settled in the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory on the 1900 U.S. Census. Married Mark L. Laird on March 11, 1907. Together they were the parents of Ruby May, Rurie Fay, Lula Maude, John Frank, Wayne M, Lee Eloise and Betty Joann Laird. One thing we will never forget is how Grandmother Laird would peel the bark of twigs, flatten out one side and use it to dip her snuff with a spit can always near by.
