Mustered in as 2nd Lieutenant to B CO 115th NY INF on August 20, 1862, promoted to First Lieutenant February 6, 1863. Discharged October 25, 1863. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant Sept 10, 1862 with rank from August 20, 1862 Original 1st Lieutenant May 13, 1863. with rank from February 6, 1863, vice F.N. Barlow resigned.
