ARLINGTON -- Dallas Carl Clynch Sr., 79, a retired coach, died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at a local hospital.

Memorial service: 1 p.m. Sunday at Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 2020 S. Collins St., Arlington.

Dallas was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Electra, to the late William B. and Fannie Mae Simmons Clynch. He was a medic with the U.S. Army at the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. A talented athlete, he attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, lettering in four sports, and later coached there for a number of years. For 30 years, he coached at schools in Arlington, with numerous teams going on to state and national championships.

Dallas was a good husband, father and provider, as well as a Mason and a Methodist. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors: Wife, Gayle Clynch of Arlington; sons, Dallas Clynch Jr. of Arlington and Dane Clynch and wife, Kim of Kilgore; brother, V.L. Clynch and wife, Ruby of Arlington; and grandchildren, Brandy, Darren and Tabitha.
