Preston Armour Childers was born Jan 2, 1891 in Temple, Bell County Texas, to Joseph Gray Childers and Josephine Anna Simmons. He stood 5ft 8in tall, had brown eyes, dark hair and a ruddy complexion. He was married to Lucile Scott in about 1919. They had three children, Gwen, Joseph Scott and William Carroll. Preston was a farmer in Temple, Texas. He enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a SPECIAL RANGER on July 14, 1917 thru December 1917, attached to Co. C. He was a ranchman in Cotulla, La Salle County, Texas. He re-enlisted in the Rangers as a SPECIAL RANGER on April 29, 1918, thru January 15, 1919, where he was a farmer in Falls County, Texas. His brother, Joseph G. Childers, Jr, was also a Texas Ranger. In 1930, he was a dairy farm manager in Bell County. Preston Armour Childers died November 20, 1977, in Bell County, Texas.
