He enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a SPECIAL RANGER on July 14, 1917 thru December 1917, attached to Co. C. He was a ranchman in Cotulla, La Salle County, Texas. He re-enlisted in the Rangers as a SPECIAL RANGER on April 29, 1918, thru January 15, 1919, where he was a farmer in Falls County, Texas. His brother, Joseph G. Childers, Jr, was also a Texas Ranger. In 1930, he was a dairy farm manager in Bell County. Preston Armour Childers died November 20, 1977, in Bell County, Texas.
