ANDERSON,Ind.--Kathryn Lakey, 95, of Anderson, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 14, 2012 while surrounded by her family at the Community Northview Care Center.
Kathryn was born June 14, 1917 in Anderson, the daughter of Thomas and Clara Ashby. On January 13, 1936 she married Gerald Lakey, who preceded her in death on February 20, 2001.
Kathryn was a loving and caring mother and grandmother to her family. She was a faithful Christian lady who lived her life as an example of God's grace. She missed attending church at the Florida Station Church of God where she was a member.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Jerry Lakey, Anderson; her six grandchildren, Bud (Susan) Whetsel, Alexandria, Brenda (Chuck) Stratton, Indianapolis, Dennis (Tami) Lakey, Jeff (Bee) Lakey, Starla Eaglin and Stacy (Norman) McMillian, all of Anderson; 12 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Kathryn's life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Florida Station Church of God, 1025 W. 375N, Anderson, with the Rev. Jerry Hilligoss officiating. Interment will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018, or in care of the funeral home.
