Charles Leroy Garner [lovingly known as 'Roy'], beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, died at age 74 on September 25, 1990 in a Salt Lake Hospital.
Roy was born August 25, 1916 in Rupert, Idaho to William Charles and Ethel Bowen Garner. While he was still a student at the University of Washington, he married Gladys Cora Campbell on December 21, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Roy worked in several venues before deciding he really wanted to be a Farmer. They farmed in very difficult and rugged circumstances in Nyssa, OR for sometime before they were finally able to establish themselves on a farm in Burley, Idaho. It was there that they raised their family while serving continually in the Church - including being called as Bishop at the age of 26. In later years, he was able to serve two LDS missions with his wife to Mexico and Guatemala. He was also director of the Provo Utah Temple baptistry for over six years.
Roy never lost his love for learning, and in 1970 he graduated from BYU in Genealogical Technology and subsequently did extensive genealogy work. He also served as a Branch President at the MTC in Provo for three years.

Survived by his wife, Gladys, of Salt Lake; children, Mrs. Gary (Carol) Griffeth of Rexburg, Idaho; Mrs. Larry (Barbara) Gerratt of Burley, Idaho; Mrs. Tyrell (Janice) Tanner of Reno, Nevada; Mrs. Larry (Louise) Ward, Murtaugh, Idaho; Mrs. Robert E. (Suzanne) Canaan, Provo, Utah; Don Leroy Garner, of Pleasant Grove; Paul Campbell Garner, Charles Lee Garner, both of Orem; 48 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Afton Baker, Delma Bean, both Burley; Dean Garner and Dale Garner, Selena Jensen, all Rupert; Leland Garner, Rexburg; and Lorainne Crandall of Provo.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 28th, at 10 a.m., Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, SLC, Utah. Interment, Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley, Idaho.
