Uriah Nelson Galigher was born October 30, 1827, near Stafford county court house in Stafford county, Vir ginia. His father died when he was a small babe. He was married in Memphis, Ind., to America Jane Deitz in 1851, after which they moved to Illiuois, where they resided till 1886, thence they moved to Ciarinda, Page county, Iowa; thence they moved again to Oregon, where they lived till they became old and, having a longing desire to see their children once more, he and his wife came back and stayed with their daughter a week, then went to Illinois and visited two weeks, thence to Pennsylvania where mother remained with her baby daughter, Minnie Hill, who is an invalid, but father cime back to Illinois, where he spent the winter with his daughter, Dora McKee: thence April 20th, he came back to Taylor county, where, from the residence of Wm. Pierson's on June 18th, his restless spirit took its night to the glory land, the home of peace and rest. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his departure and absence from his earthly home. He was in the ministry several years, but he was most gifted in singing.
Promise.
There are clouds beyond, There is sunshine and calm,
There is pain here below, But for each pain there is a balm.
There is death and then rest, For our Father who is wise,
Has prepared us a place — A home in the skies.
Then bide ye the time,
Our Father has given, We will meet them again,
In His mansions in heaven.
—Lenora Pierson.
The funeral was held at the home of Wm. Pierson, four miles northwest of Gravity on Wednesday morning at nine o'clock. Interment was made in the Cagley church cemetery, with a short service at the grave by Rev. Moulton. CLARINDA HERALD, Clarinda, Iowa, Jun 19, 1906
