Russel Howard Hubble, 94, died on Thursday, August 2, 2012.

Russel was born June 23, 1918 in Pittsboro, Indiana in the home of his parents; the late Howard and Fern (Johnson) Hubble. On July 20, 1939 he married his high school sweetheart, the late Maxine (Miller) Hubble in the home of her parents north of Pittsboro. They were married 71 years.

Russel attended and graduated from Pittsboro High School. Russel has lived in Lebanon since 1944 except one year in Colfax and previously in Hendricks County, Pittsboro, Brownsburg and Danville.

Russel and Maxine owned Hubbles Big 4 Grocery Store in Lebanon from 1944-1951. After one year owning a grocery in Colfax they returned to Lebanon in 1952. He was then employed at Shumate Printing and later several printing shops in Indianapolis retiring from Cummins Allison Coupon Printing in 1982. He then helped his son, Rusty, in the Frankfort Printing Shop and later worked part-time for the Wal-Mart and BigR in Lebanon.

In September 1942 they were blessed with a daughter, Madolin Yetive and in April 1951 a son, Russel Howard "Rusty" Hubble II, they survive. Other survivors include grandson Russel Howard (Hope) Hubble III of Frankfort; granddaughter Yetive Cox of Lebanon and great grandson Dustin L. Cox of Lebanon. He was preceded in death by sister Maybra Modolen Hubble; his parents; wife Maxine; grandchildren Eric Cox and Regina Cox.



Family and friends will gather from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5 in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6 at 2 p.m. in the mortuary.

Mr. Hubble will be laid to rest in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
