Daughter of Thomas Ruffin Sr. and Maybud Hampton Pratt. Wife of John James Van Noppen II, who was a dentist in Spray, NC. Mother of sons, John James III, Thomas Pratt, Charles Henry, William Cornelius, and Leonard Hampton Van Noppen. (She was also the sister of Dr. Thomas Ruffin Pratt, who died in California.) Mrs. Van Noppen was a teacher among other things. She married John James Van Noppen, II, son of John James Van Noppen and Johanna Maria Cappon, December 5, 1905, in Madison, Rockingham County, North Carolina. He was born September 19, 1871, in Wemildinge, Zeeland, The Netherlands. John was a dentist in Spray, Rockingham County. He died during the deadly 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic, February 11, 1919, in Eden, Rockingham County. It is estimated that almost five percent of the world's population died during the outbreak. He is buried in Lawson's Cemetery, Eden, Rockingham County, North Carolina (Find A Grave Memorial # 14895973). Ann was a teacher and wrote feature articles for Madison's newspaper, The Messenger, including articles about historic homes along the Dan River in Rockingham County. She was a member of the James Hunter Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Anne never remarried and almost outlived John by fifty years, dying September 17, 1968, in Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina. She is buried beside her husband in the Lawson Cemetery, Eden, Rockingham County, North Carolina (Find A Grave Memorial # 9534097). John and Ann Pearl Pratt Van Noppen had five known children: John James m. Ina Faye Woestemeyer, Thomas Pratt m. Stella Hays Gee, Charles Henry Leonard, William Cornelius, and Leonard Hampton Van Noppen m. Emorie Pepper.
