Oscar was the son of Lewis Sanborn and Elizabeth Dickinson. He married Maude Mikesell on Dec. 21, 1899 in Omaha, NE. They were the parents of Edythe, Mae, Laverta, Don, and a son who died in infancy.

Oct 6, 1934 - Carroll Daily Herald - O.L. Sanborn, 66, died last night at 11:20 o'clock at his home at 518 West Eighth street, death being due to heart trouble. He was taken ill ten days ago, Miss Mary Daniel, R.N., attending him until the time of his death. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Huffman Funeral home. Rev. Henry C. Schneider will be in charge. Interment will be made in the Carroll cemetery. The body will be taken from the funeral home tomorrow morning at 10:30 to the Sanborn home.

Mr. Sanborn was employed by the Chicago North Western Railroad company as car inspector and has worked for the railroad for 32 years. At one time he was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad. He was a staunch unionist and took an active part in the affairs of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen. He was an ardent baseball fan and supported the Carroll team with great enthusiasm.

Oscar LeVert Sanborn was born June 19, 1868, at White Cloud, Kansas, son of Louis T. and Elizabeth Dickinson Sanborn. He was married at Omaha on Dec. 21, 1899, to Maude Edith Mikesell. The couple lived in Council Bluffs before moving to Carroll 19 years ago.

He is survived by his wife and three children: Mrs. Claude Olsen, Miss Edythe, and Don. A daughter, Laverta, died in 1909 at the age of 5 and a son died at birth in 1903. Surviving also are three sisters: Mrs Harry Knight, Mrs John Nichols, and Mrs Fred Sparks, all of Mesa, Arizona.

R.A. Mikesell of Cedar Rapids and Mr. and Mrs. James Mikesell of Boone have been at the Sanborn home since Wednesday. They are the brothers and sister-in-law of Mrs. Sanborn.
