James Harris Scott departed this life on March 30, 2011. He was born on July 12, 1935, in Temple, Texas to Dr. Arthur Carroll Scott and Gwin Harris Scott. Jim graduated from Culver Military Academy in 1953 and attended Rice University from 1953 to 1955. From 1955 to 1957, he served his country in the U.S. Army. In 1957, he enrolled in the University of Texas in Austin, and received his B.A. in Statistics. After moving to Dallas, he spent twenty years in systems analysis, sales management, and consulting for Coopers & Lybrand CPA firm. In 1980, he moved to San Angelo where he enjoyed working on the family ranch, outside of Robert Lee, Texas. While in San Angelo, he was active in the San Angelo Symphony Association, the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, and a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. In 1995, he retired and moved to San Antonio where he was a prolific reader, avid golfer, devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Patsy S. Scott of San Antonio; his children, Michael Ledyard Scott and wife Mary Scott of League City, Texas; [Step]daughters, Jill Elizabeth McGowin and Leah M. Thomas and her husband, Steve R. Thomas of San Antonio, and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, April 8th at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in San Angelo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the charity of your choice, or Emmanuel Episcopal Church in San Angelo.
