She was born Cornelia Jane McGowen near Rochester, Minnesota, July 27, 1864. She made her home there until she was 13 years of age when she came with her parents to Hubbard, where she married Barney Clemens, February 3, 1889. Mr and Mrs Clemens made their home at Union for eight years, then moved to Mormon Ridge where they lived for 21 years. They have made their home at Clemons since that time.
Mrs Clemens is survived by her son, Marion Clemens of Clemons, and two adopted sons, Harley Clemens of Union and Ralph Clemens of Marshalltown, two brothers, George McGowen of Clemons and Phillip McGowen of Minneapolis, and three sisters, Mrs Libby Clemens of Marshalltown, Mrs Ida Williams of Iowa Falls and Mrs Addie Schultz of Hubbard. There are nine grandchildren living.
