CHURCH HILL- Lillie Ruth Lawson, 88, peacefully went to sleep in the arms of Jesus on Sunday (January 20, 2013) at the Village at Allandale.
She had lived most of her life in Hawkins County and was a member of Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church. She was known by "Ms. Ruth" at the Village at Allandale where she resided. Ms. Ruth enjoyed quilting, sewing, and always cooked for everybody. She was well known for her chocolate pies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fate and Lillie Sizemore, her husband, Charles T. Lawson, daughter, Oleda Lawson, brother, Henry Sizemore, and sister, Dorothy Fields.
She is survived by her daughters; Velma Morgan and her husband, Harry, Melissa Smith and her husband, James, Katherine Jeter, and Gilda Ward, brother, Wiley Joe Sizemore, 7 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill and anytime at the home of her daughters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Fred Gilreath and Rev. Frank Gilliam officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday following the service at Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Russell Jeter, Craig Morgan, Kelvin Houston, Jamey Smith, Brandon Vaughn, Pete Bowen, and Matt Booker.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, P.O. Box 1605, Mt. Carmel, TN 37645.
