George H. Calvert was born at Muscotah, KS, 1891 to Alexander H. and Huldah Burt Calvert.

Orders have been received from the Dept. of Mo. directing the discharge of Private George H. Calvert Co. B 13 Inf. by favor. Pvt. Calvert is now with his company on the March to Nevada Mo.

George H. Calvert, 67, World War 1 veteran and popular Atchison garage mechanic, died July 1 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital at Wadsworth. He had been a patient in the hospital since February when he underwent amputation of his right leg because of a blood clot. He had been ill with a heart condition for four years.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist church in Effingham, the Rev. Hugh stouppe, officiating. Burial was in the Effingham cemetery. The Warren Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Melinda Bonnel Calvert of the home in Atchison; a daughter,Mrs. J. L. (Rosmarie) Billings, Kansas City, Kansas; two granddaughters, Becky and Anita Billings, Kansas City; three sisters, Miss Alma Calvert and Mrs. Ella Warren, Topeka; Mrs. Bristol Conklin, Elgin, Ill.; and a niece, Mrs. Don Wilkin, Topeka.
