Mother was born on August 2, 1913, the daughter of George Leonard and Alice Lucinda Ross Biesinger, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She married Glenn H. Johnson on September 9, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Glenn passed away November 24, 1975.
Mom graduated from LDS High School, in the last class prior to the closing of that school. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Utah. Glenn and Helen began their married life in Circleville, Ut. where Glenn taught music in the local high school. They moved the next year to Rexburg, ID where Glenn continued to teach music at the high school. They moved two years later to Salt Lake City. During World War II while Glenn served in the Army, the family lived in Milton-Freewater, OR. After the war they returned to Salt Lake City where they made their home. They moved to the Washington, D.C. area in 1967 when Glenn accepted a position with the U.S. Dept of Labor. Both Mom and Dad had a great love for music. They served as members of the Tabernacle Choir for 25 years as well as in many other musical activities. Mom held many Church callings throughout her lifetime. She served a mission in 1982-83 to the California Los Angeles Mission. She served for many years as a temple worker, usually going twice a week. She loved to study and learn the gospel and graduated twice from the U of U Institute of Religion.
Mom is survived by three sons and three daughters, G. Ross (Pat), Poway, CA.; Jeanette J. (Fred) Jackson, SLC; Paul B. (Deanna), Piedmont, CA.; Linda J. (Ruben) Gomez, West Valley City; Philip B. (Marsha), So. Ogden, UT.; and Shirley J. (Ron) Marsden, Taylorsville, as well as 20 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday July 2, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 S. Highland Dr. Friends may call Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
